Everything’s coming up roses

Today, what can one say about a day, that starts out great, turns to shit and the next thing you know, you;re on the 12 hour boat to lesbos.  Well let me tell you Heather, its been a fucking gas.

Up we got this morning and wandered around Thessaloniki.  Helen was not at the coffee place, but Loraine or something was there and I again explained an iced americano to her, and she was confused but made it anyways.

Down the main drag towards the white tower and inside to see placecards, and movies about the city but all in greek, so we were lost, and up to the top for a wonderful view of the city.

From there we walked a short distant to Giannis, who made the best boukatsa in town or so they say.  We thought it was pretty rad.

Straight up the street to the rotunda, a giant empty building with cool murals on the ceiling and not much else.

Then was random shit after that

Finally we called it a day and packed up and headed to the airport to catch our 1:05 flight.
Problem was 1:05 came and went and still no plane.  I got a notice that it was running late, which was a problem because our connecting flight was leaving at 3.  Then I got a notice to check into my 3 o’clock connecting flight and it was nearly 1:30.  Then I got a notice that our flight was leaving at 2, meaning no time at all to catch our 3 o’clock.  Then I got a notice to check into my connecting flight a second time, but when I looked at the date it said 5/9 which was tomorrow.  I went huh.  Then I called Aegean and they said we were bumped from our connecting flight because we wouldn’t be arriving until 3:15.  They had put us on the next flight tomorrow at 5, meaning we would lose a day in lesbos to this bullshit.  I reached out to Uli at Dolphin to tell her to inform our hotel ad car rental place.  Then we thought about spending that evening and the entirely of the next day at a hotel by the Athens airport.  Not pleasing.  We got on the place to Athens and I started to think, there’s an overnight boat to lesbos from Athens, we could just do that.  The boat leaves Piraeus at 8 and arrives in lesbos at 8 and we would get back that entire day we lost, which is pretty cool

So we got to the airport and talked to Aegean about stuff, then got our bag and hitched a ride down to the port and hopped on our boat and explored it and sat on the deck and watched the other boats come and go and then away we went.  Very cool indeed.

  2. Bougatsa! The most delightful of all pastries. Well, the boat looks fun. Your little twin bed look like the perfect place to take some DramaLlamaline and go to sleep. -H
