Eureka!

so we got up just in time, or rather JW did, because i drank way too much the night before.  she got up and did stuff and i layed in bed like toddler.  at one point, i think she knew i wanted to leave at 7:30 and almost woke me up, but did not.  i woke up at 8:30 and she had already packed the car, bought coffees, ironed the draps and mowed the front yard.  needless to say, i was not happy to wake up, nor was i prepared for the 10 hour drive to Eureka Springs Arkansas.  but i woke up anyways, i fucking did that shit.

first off, mississippi.  who knew that state even existed?  i mean, i knew on the drive down that most of it was through mississippi, but coming back, did i really need to zig zag across the entire state like dig dug hunting vermin.  it was terrible, absolutely terrible state, people who live there should be airlifted out.  when we finally made to the arkansas border, i was actually relieved, that is until we hit little rock traffice, and then it was a whole new thing.

the road eventually started going towards eureka springs, and let me tell you, i love northern arkansas like i like most of southern missouri like i love driving in Crete.  the roads are tiny and windy and i love it.  then it started to rain.

rain sucks when you're driving no matter where you are.

we arrived in eureka springs around 7 pm, which was 10 minutes faster than google maps said we'd get there because i fucking speed.  we arrived at our hotel, the Hotel New Orleans, and checked in before then heading out to dinner at McGarrity's which may have not been the best place to eat in town, but it's where we ate.

after dinner we took the car back to the hotel and wondered around downtown eureka springs.  apparently friday night is karaoke night in ever bar on the strip.  we also had a guy in the basement of the Hotel New Orleans playing some loud as shit covers to a room of 8 people.  this would last until midnight, which was probably an hour and half later than we wanted to go to bed.

the town was quaint and there were drunk people wandering around, we finally decided on a place with no loud music and had a cocktail before heading back to the hotel new orleans, where we admired the balcony and then spend a few hours trying to sleep through the basement demon singer.
