Rain and dust and ghosts

I slept like a champ last night even if i didn’t go to sleep until 1:30, ugh, night before a big trip, we got all packed up and made it out at a decent hour, 7:30 or so, am, and i promised JW a coffee so we stopped in Beltin at the Starbucks that was way out of the way, and so i insisted we also go to HyVee which was way out of the way, but before we knew it we were in Springfield, filling up at the Costco, 3.13, very cheap, and then along a bunch roads in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas i have no idea what they were, but the hills of Arkansas turned into these giant flat dusty fields, and at one point the wind was blowing the dust across the road so fierce that it was white out for 1/2 a mile or so, it freaking was bullshit.  We were making incredible time and landed in Memphis at 3:15, too early to check in the hotel, so we took a detour to the Memphis zoo, which was ok, not great, so much so i only took two pictures

We learned at the front desk that the pyramid had a glass elevator and a 30 foot viewing area, so we stashed our shit and took a short jaunt over to the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid and joy was had by all.

We headed back to the hotel and after n hour and half later we were checking into our Beale Street hotel, the sounds the city were loud and proud and we realized why they upgraded us to a suite on the front of the hotel, that’s literally where all the noise was.  We’re hoping shit chills down on a Sunday night.

After acclimating ourselves to our room, we headed out for dinner at the Green Beetle, the oldest bar in Memphis.  The food was great, the bartender was fine and we made new friends like people do.  I got a shirt as well.  They recommended a bar down the street that was haunted and we said say no more.

We walked down to the crazy haunted bar called Earnestine and Hazel’s.  JW looked up the history, go google it, but it was pretty rad, and if you went upstairs there were a bunch of spooky rooms but alas we saw nor felt anything remotely supernatural.

We headed back to the hotel, and now will sleep, awaiting our 6 hour drive tomorrow to NOLA.
