A great sleep and up at a decent hour, we were meeting at the Gracious Bakery for our morning Garden District tour. A short 11 minute walk from the Hampton in, and inside for a pastry and a coffee before Jackie found us check us in.
The tour was 2 hours long and included the history of the Garden District, famous houses, archetecture styles and etc. i took some pictures.
After the tour back to the hotel and prepared for our swamp boat tour at 2:30. It looked like we did not have enough time to do much, so we hopped in the car and away we sped towards the Cajun Adventures in Slidell.
Once we arrived there, it was a short wait before we hopped on our swamp boat with our guide Steve, and out into the river and saw some alligators and some turtles and a bird or two, and some friendly raccoons. The tour lasted an hour and a half and a good time was had by all.
Back in the car and back to the hotel, where we contemplated how to get to our dinner destination of Frankie and Johnny’s. It looked like there was a bus went there we could not figure it out, and then we started walking towards Magazine St, and eventually found a sign for a bus, which arrived a few minutes later. We hopped on and sped towards our destination when out of the nowhere the bus stopped and the driver hopped off and disappeared. We were the only two people on the bus, and our destination was nearby, so we got off the bus ourselves and walked on over to Frankie and Johnies.
The food was excellent, our server Dana was a peach and i highly recommend it for anyone coming to NO.
After dinner, we could not figure out the bus ride back, so we just walked the 2 miles down Magazine, admiring the houses, the art galleries and the decour of the neighborhoods we passed through. Eventually we wound up back in the Garden District and stopped at a dive bar call Mayfair. It was super dicey and you would love it.
Back to the hotel and sleeeeeeppppp!!!
