Circadian Women

This morning our flight to Naxos left Heraklion at 6:50, which means yes, all the boo hooing I’ve been doing about not sleeping well was thrown out the door since we had to get up at 5:30 to get to the airport by 6 to catch our flight to Athens, where there was a 3 hour delay for our flight to Naxos.  Fuuuucccckkk!

Turns out the Naxos plane was broken so we had to wait for the Milos plane to go there and come.  Now we’ve ridden on the Milos plane before, its quite the hoot.  Landings are an especial treat

So we arrive in beautiful Naxos with about 15 other people from our plane, and the car rental guy was waiting for us and our hotel was 5 minutes from the airport, and a huge group of teenagers were milling about the parking lot and I thought. FUUUCCKKK!  But we don’t thing they are staying here, so that’s good.

After we checked in we walked into town via a super beat up boardwalk that runs along St George’s Beach, a very popular place, but not today as there were very few people there.  We went straight through town to the other side and had a modest lunch in the shadow of the islands most prominent landmark, the temple of Apollo.

After we ate we walked up to it and basically had the thing to ourselves.  Then we wove through the city and up the hill to the Kastella which much like the one on Sifnos has people living in it, and a bloody church in the middle.  There was construction, and nothing was open, so out we went, and came back to the hotel straight away for a nap.

After the nap we drove to this Mexican place for dinner but it was closed, so parked the car back at the hotel and walked back downtown and ate at a fru fru Italian place with the most expensive prices we’ve seen, but very good food.  Then back to bed, so tired today.
