Chania day 1

will tell you abou our day and you can check back later for pictures

woke up and had breakfast then went for a stroll.  the venetian harbour is magnificnt, and early in the morning very quiet.  we walked out to where the west wall ends and tried to get into thebuilding there but it was closed.  taking no for an answer we walked up the hill behind it and found a small path that lead up to the top of the wall. it was us and 10 cats.  we had the view to ouselves.  if i was in charge of chania tourism, this path would be on a map.  we continues to walk around the entire circumfrance if the wall, pausing only to try to get on top of it.  finally we arrived at the east gate, which is next to the hotel.  we then decided to walk out the harbour wall to the venetian lighthouse.  that was something i've been planning for a year, but the lighthouse was closed so that sucked.

a short break and we were off again, first to Kousin E.P.E. for lunch, which though delicious was marred by both a bubbleheaded waitress and a table of american/ international students talking to loud about their sex lives,

leaving e.p.e. we struck out to find as many of the uncovered minoan dig sites spread throughout old town.  we did a decent job, but missed one that we looked for a while.  then back to the hotel for a nap.

after nap time we walked to the dinner place, thallasina regeri, which was bult in the old tannery part of town and had their tables set up on the beach.  dinner was excellent and a cat pooped in the sand while watched, then back to old town, where the saturday night crowd was overwhelming.  we decided to call it a night.  tommoorrow we head to the west coast and day trip a few places
