afterwards we got on the coastal road to epidavros. it was very easy drive and we stopped for lunch at a tiny coastal village of new epidavris, which had a lot of orange trees and cats. the hippieish owner of the beachfront taverna was gracious and told us he'd been to san francisco in the 70s. we could definitley tell. the short ride to ancient epidavros was uneventful, but the walk to the site seemed rather long, but when we arrived at the ancient theater, it was magical. we were practically the only ones there, and julia ran up the stairs while i stood at the bottom doing the verizon commercial "can you hear me now?" and even wheni whispered she could, all the way to the top. very cool. the rest of the site was a medical village where they performed magical mysteries, but the stuff i really wanted to see was blocked off and that sucked.
we left at the tour buses started filling in and headed to our final deatination of navplio, a quaint coastal town and greeces first capital. the streets snear our hotel were blocked off so we drove around looking for a spot and finally made it to our hotel which was staffed by hagrid from harry potter and a rather talented parrot. our room is quiet lovely, but we have ni view to speak of. i walked around the tony streets while julia caught up on work and discovered my new sandals are not very comfortable, o i changed into my keens, took a little nap, then we had a fucking wonderful dinner at a tiny family restaurant just around the corner from the hotel. tomorrow we see ancient mycean, maybe argos, maybe tyrnes and maybe nemea. maybe also a boatout to thebortzi, and maybe a car ride up to the palimdes, a giant castle that overlooks our hotel.
