lost in paradise

well we didnt really get to see much of kalamada, though we did have a lovely italian dinner on the dock and cruised the waterfront because our hotel was not close to anything.  this morning we got up and said goodbye kalamada and started looking for ancient messian, which as it turns out was easier to find than we thought.  everything has a brown sign, so follow the brown signs and try not to miss it.
so next to delos, ancient messian was easily the largest site we saw, and counting the walls and two gates it was magnificent. truly something to behold.

with the rest of the day todo whatever, we decided to head down to the messian peninsula and went to the tiny port city of pylos, which was supposedly one of the cities where richard linkletter filmed his new after midnight movie.  at the entrance to the harbor where some ginormous rocks that had wavescrshing, it was spectacular.  then we headed along the coastal road and decided to check out the palace of nestor, but alas it was closed.  a ladycsme out while we stood there staring at the greek sign and said in perfect english, closed for two years, and i was like, but im not coming back, ever.  no love for felelow americans.  we continied up the coast past a latge variety of towns i cant remember and finally got off the coastal road and made it on a sorta highway were the speed is posted 60 but everyone was going 120.  i was going 90 and still felt like it was too fast.  i cant tell yet if it's the greeks who drive that fast or the tourists.

now we are at beautiful hotel neda in downtown olympia, a few blocks away from the ancient site, which we will walk over to in the morning.  working on pictures, please patient.
