olympia to delphi in under 30 seconds

this morning we woke in olympia to the crazy sound of a crowd of people.  turns out those asshole bikers in our hotel we actually part of a race touring the peloponnes.  i had to yell at a couple while we were eating breakfast to get there bikes off our car which was parked in front of the hotel.  after a less than stellar breakfast we walked over to the olympic site.  there was a lot of mixed archecture, stuff obviously from anciet greece and stuff newer from roman times.  the apex of course was going out on the original olympic stadium and running down the course.  looking to either side you could feel the electricity of veing in the place.  the other cool thing was the temple of zues which was destroyed by earthquakes, but looking at the massive pillars laying on the ground, you could get a pretty good idea how impressive it was.

after a couple hours wandering around, we packed up the stuff and headed up the highway to delphi, which surprising wasnt that far away.  along the way we went over the new bridge across the gulf of corinth at Patra, which was spectacular, and 13 eu to cross.  then we tried stopping at a number of shoreline towns for lunch, but most of them were closed.  we finally found one that was bustling and had our last seaview lunch of the trip.  after lunch we headed up the side of the moutain and finally arrived at hotel olympic, with this killer view.  tomorrow we check out the site and then drive up through the mountains to meteroa.
