Today we got up and had a crummy breakfast at the hotel loucas, though the room breakfast was in was very cool. Then we walked down to the bus station and loaded onto the first bus to Akrotiri. Akrotiri was yet another minoan settlement on Santorini, but this one was completely covered in ash when the volcano blew, so the entire city was completely intact whent hey dug it out. It was inside a building, that was newly built because the old roof collapsed 7 years ago. It was absolutely amazing, though we were very curious how they decided which parts of the ruins to dig out and put inside the building. It seemed that the entire complex could have been twice as big. We stopped briefly to talk to the guy at the coffee bar, who spoke brilliant english and basically asked him this question, whereby he told us that there are ruins everywhere in Greece, and that if you find any, you can't build anything there, so a lot of people just forget to tell anyone about it. crazy. We then hopped on the bus back to our hotel, grabbed our stuff, ran back to the bus station and caught the last bus to the port to catch our ferry to Mykonos. we just barely made it, but the ferry was late, so no big deal. There were quite a few people waiting for the ferry. The trip to Mykonos included a stop off at Paros I think, and then we arrived at Mykonos, got in a cab and road to our completely lovely hotel Mykonos Bay. Oh my god, what a freaking awsome hotel. We got our suits on and went out to the beach, but the water was covered in sea urchins, which we did not want to stop on, so back inside, changed up and walked into town to eat some dinner. The choices were many, and the streets were confusing and we quickly got lost. The gps on the Iphone did not help us at all, but we eventually found Sitilia, and quaint little cafe run by this kind old man and sat and had an enjoyable dinner. We got our requisite windmill photos and headed back to relax. Tomorrow Delos Island and then a ferry to Athens.
