parthenon? i hardly know her!
this morning we slept in a little and had a meeger breakfast before heading off to the acropolis. since our hotel lies to the north we entered on the north side, which was completely empty at nine am. but when we wound around to the main entrance we saw a line of people that was crazy. at nine on a monday in mid may? i'd really hate to see the limes in july. anyways, we made our way across the acropolis, admiring the parthenon which was being dismantled in parts to reinforce certain sections, and finally headed down to the base where we saw the two theaters and then walked over ti the temple of zues and finally over to the colliseum. it was getting warm by now and we had a very long walk ahead of us to the national museum, so we stopped in the shade of the national garden and rested briefly before taking the walk to the museum, first going past the parliment house in syntagma square and a bunch of ither famous buildings before arriving at the museum at noon, only to find that it was closed until one. so we had a lite lunch at the quaint cafe on the grounds and finally made our way inside. to be honest, it was rather overwhelming, so i tried to be selective about what i took notice of and julia and i got seperated and she also was overwhelmed to the point where she got brain freeze. after a couple hours i made my way back to the entrance to find her waiting for me. didnt evenrealize she'd gotten ahead of me, but there it was and now its gone. back to the hotel for a nap bfore we hook up with our tavel agent for drinks and then dinner. we also get our laundry back, our rental car and tommorrow we head out into the wilds of the poleponnes. corinth and epidavros first followed by navplion. no pictures today. julias wifi not working so well. hopefully when we get to navplion we cqn get you cqught up on pictures
